Zuckerberg announces new creator tools in live-stream chat

In a live-stream chat by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg this week, it was announced the platform would be bringing new tools for Instagram creators and improved brand promotional offerings. The new tools will help Instagram creators earn money from their platforms, through creator shops, new branded content promotional deal frameworks and an improved influencer marketplace, allowing users and brands to connect. Zuckerberg also used the live-stream chat to discuss the evolving creator economy, particularly Facebook’s efforts to establish a more accessible process to growing a following and making money from content - especially the platform’s growing “middle class” of creators.

Twitter is working on new tipping feature for creators

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Twitter exploring ways to help creators on its platform - it wasn’t long ago that it acquired newsletter platform Revue, and it has recently started testing professional profiles too. The latest feature it’s exploring is a tipping feature for creators, which could let users tip creators directly from their Twitter profile. This could be a part of Twitter’s ‘Super Follow’ button, a new feature that will let creators charge followers to access extra exclusive content from them.

WhatsApp works on messages that disappear after 24 hours

WhatsApp seems to be taking a leaf out of Snapchat’s playbook with its latest feature. The messaging platform is now working on allowing its users to send messages that disappear after a specified amount of time, from 7 days to 24 hours. Users will be able to turn disappearing messages on or off on a chat-by-chat basis.

Clubhouse announces exclusive partnership with NFL

Twitter Spaces who? Despite still not being fully available to Android and non-invited users, Clubhouse has announced it has struck a new, exclusive content deal with the National Football League (NFL). As part of the partnership, the NFL league will be broadcast on Clubhouse via a range of Rooms in the lead-up to the 2021 NFL Draft. The deal makes the NFL the first major sports league to collaborate with Clubhouse on official programming and may help towards Clubhouse solidifying its place as the ‘top dog’ of the audio social boom.

TikTok announces Lead Generation ads

TikTok has announced new lead generation ads that will help businesses reach more customers and drive acquisition more effectively. The feature will allow businesses to create seamless interactions with potential customers and capture their data by allowing users to fill out a form and provide information including their name, email address and phone number. Leads will be downloadable manually or can be passed into a business’ CRM if it’s connected.
