Experience: I have over 10 years experience in social media marketing. I have worked for start ups all the way to multinational brands managing and growing their social media communities both organic and paid.

What do you love most about social media: I love the ability for social media to allow people and businesses to share their story online. Be it with words, photos, links or even video. We are all now only a few connections away from our ideal audience and prospect.

Favourite social media platform: At the moment my favourite is Youtube and Instagram.

Top tip: Don't overthink your posts! Too many business wait for the perfect photo, video or link. The reality is sharing your weaknesses and vulnerability will actually help to build more trust and a more authentic audience in the long run - so hit publish before you are ready!

What does your day to day work consist of?: Social Media Strategy , social media management, content creation as well as Facebook advertising management.

What challenges do you face within your role?: Its important when looking to scale in your role that you setup processes. This does take time but in the long term helps to boost productivity and results. So at the moment I'm in this building phase.

Are there any social media tools you use to make your job easier?: Of course! - Agorapulse is my go to tool for one simple reason. It allows me to post, schedule, manage conversations and even do reporting all from one platform.

As there are so many changes to social media, how do you keep up to date with the latest information?: I like to practice new techniques with my audience then blog about this to help businesses. I also keep a close eye on the platforms own news sites for any latest changes.


For someone looking to get into a social media role, where would you advise them to start?: I would advise two approaches. 1) Read up on the topics on social media which interest you - this will help you get direct insight into the industry from those who have already been there. 2) Implement - whether its on your own account or a clients don't be afraid to try new things. The best results will come from your own experiences.


What's been your best social media success story to date and why?: For me its been managing the social media for the London 2012 Olympic games and helping a valentines day campaign for Samsung UK go viral.

What has been your favourite social media campaign (Big or Small) this year so far and why?: Movember - facial hair facts campaign

Finally, what would you like the future of social media to be?: A better connected environment where users are more comfortable with security.
