SocialDay Success Stories: Esme Rice

SocialDay’s much anticipated 2021 social media marketing festival is just around the corner. To honour this year’s theme of helping social media marketers to do their jobs better, we’ve spoken to past attendees and speakers - now successful experts in the industry - to find out how SocialDay helped them along the way.

First up, we’re speaking to Esme Rice, Marketing Director at the award-winning influencer marketing company Tailify. Esme is a regular attendee and speaker at SocialDay, having hosted the incredibly popular TikTok panel at last year’s virtual festival.

Hey Esme! Thanks for sharing your success story. First off, how and when did you first come across SocialDay?

“I first attended SocialDay in 2017, following my graduation from University. I wanted to attend to meet one of the speakers, Harry Hugo (Co-Founder of Goat), who I had interviewed for my dissertation in influencer marketing. I spoke to Lucy and she created a student ticket so I could afford to attend and listen to the sessions.”

So what roles had you worked in previously (if any)? And how did SocialDay play an important part in your career path?

“When I attended SocialDay I had worked as a content creator for Social Chain and completed several placements at Saatchi & Saatchi and other agencies. However, these were exploratory roles to find out which roles I wanted to apply for once graduating. At Social Chain, I learnt about and fell in love with influencer marketing, and went on to write my dissertation in the subject.

Since SocialDay 2017, I was offered a position at Goat as their Marketing Manager. I stayed with Goat for two years as we went from 40 people to over 100 and became the Fastest Growing Agency in Europe in 2019.

I have since moved on to Tailify as Marketing Director. At Tailify we focus on data and psychology led influencer campaigns, using insights from research to create effective campaigns for brands.”

Aside from jobs, what other opportunities has SocialDay offered you?

“SocialDay provided a fantastic opportunity for me to turn online connections into personal networks. In later years, I’ve worked with SocialDay to create interesting talks and panels with those networks to share our knowledge.”

And finally, how does SocialDay compare with other social media marketing events or similar networking events?

“SocialDay is more than an event, it’s a community that stays engaged all year round. Speakers, attendees and the organisers all stay connected throughout the year, building business opportunities and networks for one another. I’ve found that is quite a unique feature of SocialDay as an experience.

I highly recommend SocialDay to my network and community, it’s a fantastic event and opportunity for more than just learning.”

If you’d like to experience a SocialDay success story of your own, why wait? Book your ticket to our 2021 festival to start your journey today!
