Companies make millions off kid influencers, and the law hasn't kept up - CBS News

Lots of parents share pictures and videos of their children on social media, but now a growing number are actually making a living at it. The companies that showcase the content of these kid influencers are making millions in the process, while the rules and regulations aimed at protecting children haven't kept up.

Kyle Hjelmeseth, the founder of God and Beauty, an influencer marketing and management agency that manages the twins, says the metric his company uses for influencers across the board is a rate of $1 per 10 followers, per post. This could mean that Ava and Leah, who command 1.4 million followers on Instagram, are making more than double the U.S. annual median household income for every sponsored post.

Instagram confirms it is testing increased ad loads in Stories - Marketing Land

Last month, Marketing Land talked to multiple marketers who reported a noticeable uptick in ad load on Instagram, with ads accounting for as much as 22% out of 45 posts and 23% of Stories. Now Instagram is confirming it is experimenting with increasing ad volume in Stories.

“We’re always testing new ad experiences on Instagram and want to learn how people and advertisers respond to this small test,” said a spokesperson from Facebook, Instagram’s parent company.

The test involves running ads from two different advertisers back-to-back within a Story, according to a report from AdWeek. The experiment is only being performed on a small group of users, and all advertisers are eligible to be part of the test.

Instagram’s latest assault on Snapchat is a messaging app called Threads - The Verge

Facebook is developing a new messaging app called Threads that is meant to promote constant, intimate sharing between users and their closest friends, The Verge has learned. Threads, which is designed as a companion app to Instagram, invites users to automatically share their location, speed, and battery life with friends, along with more typical text, photo, and video messages using Instagram’s creative tools. The app, which is designed for sharing with your “close friends” list on Instagram, is now being tested internally at Facebook.

Instagram declined to comment.

Twitter tests new, larger image tweet carousel ad format - Social Media Today

Back in March, Twitter began testing a new carousel ad format for app install campaigns, which would give advertisers the capacity to add multiple, larger images to their collections.

Now, Twitter is expanding its new carousel format to additional campaign types, and potentially even regular business posts, with H&M USA sharing this tweet, which includes multiple images connected to a common link.

The new format, includes a larger image panel, and a swipe-able carousel stream. The post appears to have been created via an app called 'Carousel-Composer', though there's limited information on the tool available.
