Facebook starts feeding ads into VR

Facebook launched a limited test of ads inside three Oculus Quest apps, saying it would expand the system based on user feedback. The move is a turning point for Oculus, bringing one of Facebook’s most controversial features into a medium that inspires both idealism and alarm.

Media commentators have said this raises large questions about the future direction of FB, from data mining to dystopian scenarios like ready player one! At SocialDay we think that as the volume of users grow it’s understandable that FB will push adverts out to this audience.

ASA gets tough (again)

Over the last month, the ASA has been targeting influencers who have been flouting the rules, with serious issues of targeting young audiences with unlicensed fillers, gambling and debt removal. This week the ASA announced a wall of shame where repeat offenders are placed on the list and will have adverts served against them.

Time for a better working group on this one we think ASA, these tactics don’t seem to be working judging by the number of repeat offenders and an ever-growing list it could be time for a fresh approach. We would be happy to put you in touch with some of those best placed to help.

Reeling out the ads

Instagram is rolling out ads to reels, the 30’s clips will of course be like reels with a similar format, looped so that users can comment and save them just like any other reel.

After testing in other markets (Australis, Germany, India and Brazil) now this will be rolled out to the other major markets.

Twitter Will Now Let Spaces Hosts Download an Audio File of Their Space
