Let’s learn more about Dan:

First off, what do you LOVE about SocialDay?

The community, great people go to these events & everyone is so friendly!

Dan, what’s your story?

Got a 1st in my Business Management & Marketing degree at the university of Brighton but didn't learn a lot about marketing (well not a lot of it stuck), I just learnt how to pass an exam.

Got a graduate job at Enterprise Rent A Car, learnt a lot about running a business, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service etc, got promoted twice in a year to assistant manager. Was promoted too quickly & had a bit of a meltdown, moved back in with my parents.

Was interested in growing a social following & creating content, so started learning how to grow on Twitter & grew 40k+ followers & started writing tutorial articles for some well-known publications & got verified. Then started applying what I'd learnt to my Dad's consultancy business (he was our first client).

Then started working with small businesses, training them on what I'd learnt by growing my personal brand.

My brother quit his job & we started Knowlton.Spent the first 2 years doing everything (building websites, creating content, managing social platforms etc)In 2017 we discovered the power of Advertainment (creating entertaining content that drove a tangible ROI).

Spent the next 5 years applying this approach with some of the world's leading brands, we've now worked with Wahl, FIFA, Nestle & more.

What’s the focus of your SocialDay talk?

The session will be focused on Marketers changing the way they think about & approach marketing to generate greater returns from the time/money they invest in marketing.

The audience will get;- Actionable tips, based on the lessons we've learnt over the past 7 years.- Lots of examples to back-up the insights shared.

We are really looking forward to your SocialDay session, what are the key takeaways?

A bonus marketing cheat sheet filled with the best resources/tools/Apps that we use/create

A recent campaign we're really proud of is the Wahl x Peaky Blinders collab we worked on. We produced 50+ social assets & you can see the full case study here: https://knowltonmarketing.co.uk/our-work/wahl-uk/

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve seen on social media in the last 12 months?

TikTok. The speed at which you can grow on the platform & get attention is crazy.

What challenges do you feel you will be facing in the coming years in your role?

Tracking & demonstrating the accuracy of ROI people have been used to (due to ios changes & changes to tracking in general)- Innovation.

This is a constant challenge, things change so quickly in our industry & it's super important to keep up with this & constantly evolve our strategy.

What has been your favourite social media campaign in the last 12 months?

It wasn't necessarily a social campaign, but seeing Binley Mega Chippy go so viral & the aftermath of constant huge queues outside shows how random social can be.

Finally, what would you like to see happen in social media in the future?

More content that focuses on us & what we want to see as the consumer & less on what brands want to push out to us.
