Corrections Policy
The Sauce is committed to accuracy. When we get something wrong we fix it quickly, transparently and in public.
How to request a correction
Email info@socialday.co.uk with the URL of the article, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and any supporting evidence. We aim to respond within two working days.
How we handle corrections
- Correction: a factual error is fixed in place and a note is appended to the foot of the article explaining what was changed and when.
- Clarification: where a passage is accurate but could be misread, we rewrite the passage and note the update.
- Update: for developing stories we add new information with a dated update note; the original reporting is preserved.
- Retraction: in the rare event that a story cannot be substantiated, we retract it, replace the body with a retraction notice and keep the URL live so the record is transparent.
Silent edits
We do not make silent changes to material facts, quotes or headlines. Typo and formatting fixes may be made without a note.
