20 free social media tools for marketers to try in 2026

Looking for social media tools for marketers that do not start with a bill? This list brings together free platform features and tools with a free plan, across scheduling, content creation, research, analytics and reporting. It does not count a time-limited free trial as a free tool.

That distinction matters. A free plan might cap how many social accounts you connect, how many posts you can schedule or how far back you can see your analytics. We checked the providers' current plan information on 9 October 2026. Always check the provider before signing up, as plans can change.

If you need more than a free plan offers, you can compare social media tools in the SocialDay directory, including listings for Buffer, Metricool, Canva and Adobe Express.

Free social media management and publishing tools

1. Meta Business Suite

For Facebook and Instagram, start with Meta's own business tools. Meta Business Suite lets you create and schedule posts and Stories, manage messages and comments, and check performance insights in one place. You need the relevant Facebook Page and connected Instagram account. It will not manage every social network, but it can cover a lot of the everyday work at no charge.

2. TikTok Studio

TikTok Studio brings content creation, publishing and performance information together for TikTok creators. Use it to manage videos and comments and get a closer look at how content is performing. It is useful if TikTok is a priority channel; it is not a cross-platform scheduler.

3. YouTube Studio

YouTube Studio is the home for managing a channel: upload and edit videos, respond to comments and use YouTube Analytics to understand how videos and Shorts are performing. It is free for channel owners and gives you more useful detail than trying to judge a video by its view count alone.

4. Buffer

Buffer's free plan currently lets you connect up to three channels and keep up to 10 scheduled posts in the queue per channel. That makes it a practical starting point for a solo marketer or small brand. The limits matter if you need to schedule heavily or manage several clients.

5. Metricool

Metricool's free plan includes one brand, with basic planning and analytics. It can help you schedule content and review performance in one place, though the free plan has limits compared with paid plans. Check what counts as a "brand" and which channels are included before you build your workflow around it.

6. Canva Free

Canva's free account gives you templates and a browser-based editor for social graphics, presentations and other marketing materials. Some templates, stock assets and tools are paid, so check that an element is marked free before you use it. Canva is listed in the SocialDay directory, where you can also see other design and content tools.

7. Adobe Express Free

Adobe Express Free includes social templates, editing tools and a content scheduler. Adobe currently says the free scheduler can publish to one account per social network. Premium assets and features are a separate matter, so check the label before you build a design around them.

8. CapCut

CapCut is a video editor for turning clips into short-form social content. You can trim footage, add text and captions, and export edits for social platforms. Some features and assets may be paid or vary by device and region, so check before relying on a particular effect or export option.

9. Pexels

Pexels offers free stock photos and video clips that can help when you need a visual starting point or supporting footage. Read the licence and check the context before using an image, especially if it includes recognisable people or brands. Stock should support your idea, not make every post look like the same stock library.

10. Unsplash

Unsplash is another source of free stock photography. It is useful for finding a visual reference, background or supporting image, but it will not replace original campaign photography or user-generated content. Check the licence and any restrictions before publishing an image commercially.

11. Google Trends

Google Trends shows how interest in search terms changes over time and across locations. Use it to compare topics, spot seasonal patterns and sense-check whether an idea is gaining attention. It measures Google searches, not what people are doing on every social platform, so treat it as one input to your research.

12. TikTok Creative Center

TikTok's Creative Center is a free, public resource for exploring trends, hashtags, high-performing ads and creative examples. It can help you understand what is gaining traction and how brands are using the platform. Use it for inspiration and research, not as a reason to copy a trend that does not fit your audience.

13. Meta Ad Library

Meta Ad Library lets you search ads running across Meta platforms. It is useful for seeing how other organisations present offers, frame messages and test creative. It will not tell you whether an ad is profitable, but it can give you a view of the creative and messaging in market.

14. Pinterest Trends

Pinterest Trends shows what people are searching for on Pinterest, helping you explore seasonal interests and emerging topics. It is especially relevant for visual categories such as interiors, food, fashion, travel and DIY. Check availability and data for your market; Pinterest search behaviour is not a substitute for research on other networks.

15. Instagram Insights

If you have an Instagram professional account, Insights gives you data about your content and audience. Use it to check reach, interactions and other account metrics against the goal of a post. The exact metrics available can vary by content type and account, and the numbers make more sense when you compare them over time.

16. LinkedIn Page Analytics

LinkedIn Page admins can use Page analytics to review content, visitors, followers and other performance information. You can also export some reports. It is a useful free starting point for understanding how a company Page is performing, though it is separate from analytics for an individual LinkedIn profile.

17. Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics can help you see what happens after someone clicks through from social media to your website. Set up campaign tracking with consistent UTM parameters so you can distinguish social sources and campaigns. Analytics only helps if your website tagging and consent setup are working properly.

18. Looker Studio

Looker Studio lets you build shareable dashboards and reports. Social media teams can use it to bring website analytics and other connected data into a clearer view for colleagues or clients. Some data sources need connectors, and those may have their own costs or limits.

Free link and bio tools

19. Bitly

Bitly's free plan offers basic link management, subject to current limits. Short links can be handy in social posts, QR codes and campaign materials, but do not use a short link to hide where a reader is going. If you need campaign measurement, add UTMs and check which analytics features your plan actually includes.

20. Linktree

Linktree's free plan gives you a simple page for gathering important links in one place. It can be useful when a social profile only gives you room for one main link. More detailed analytics, integrations and customisation sit in paid plans, so check the plan comparison if those matter to you.

Which free social media marketing tools should you start with?

You probably do not need all 20. Start with the tools built into the platforms you use, add one design tool and one scheduler if they solve a real problem, then use analytics to see whether your work is moving towards its goal.

When a free plan starts to feel restrictive, compare the options before signing up for a trial. The SocialDay social media tools directory brings together tools across management, scheduling, analytics, social listening, influencer marketing and content creation, with listings you can explore side by side.
