Pinterest opens Amazon Storefront linking for creators with automatic affiliate tracking

Pinterest launched Amazon Storefront linking on 10 June 2026, a tool that allows eligible creators to connect their Amazon Storefront directly to their Pinterest account. The feature automatically applies the creator's Amazon affiliate information when tagging products in Pins, eliminating the need for manual entry of links or IDs.

The Amazon Storefront handle appears on the creator's Pinterest profile, providing another pathway for followers to access recommended products.

For creators who already run Amazon affiliate businesses on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, the integration removes the main friction that kept them from investing time on Pinterest. Pinterest said storefront linking with other partners will be introduced at a later date.

What changes for creators on the ground

When creators tag Amazon products on their Pins, Pinterest automatically applies their Amazon affiliate information, eliminating the need to manually add affiliate links or IDs. Auto-affiliate linking applies whenever they tag eligible Amazon products in image and video Pins, with no manual linking required, and Amazon may boost creator content as an ad on Pinterest, giving content more reach at no extra cost.

Affiliate links are applied automatically to tagged Amazon products, and Pins with affiliate links automatically feature an affiliate link disclosure.

The setup is straightforward. In a few steps, creators can securely connect their Amazon Storefront to their Pinterest account. If creators have multiple Amazon Storefront accounts (for example, a US account and a Canadian account), Pinterest automatically selects the account that matches the Pinterest account's location.

The profile placement matters. Eligible creators see their Amazon Storefront handle featured directly on their Pinterest profile, giving fans and followers a broader view of their recommendations beyond a single Pin or Board.

People come to Pinterest with purpose, they're looking for ideas, and often ready to act on them.

Why it matters: the first real monetisation infrastructure since 2022

Pinterest shut down its Creator Rewards program, which allowed creators to earn money by creating content around monthly prompts and achieving certain engagement goals, with the programme ending on 30 November 2022. The Pinterest Creator Rewards program was discontinued in 2023 and has not been replaced with an equivalent direct payment system.

Since then, Pinterest has been explicit: it does not pay creators directly for views or engagement. Pinterest sends highly qualified, purchase-ready traffic that creators monetize through methods they control, including affiliate commissions, digital product sales, brand partnerships, and ad revenue on their own website or blog.

The Amazon integration is the platform's strongest signal yet that it's building monetisation infrastructure aligned to that model, not replacing it. Pinterest's Amazon Storefront Integration is expected to help the platform attract creators with established affiliate shopping businesses, the majority of whom run their businesses on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

The intent data backs it up. Over 50% of Pinterest users come to the platform to shop, and people search Pinterest more than 80 billion times a month. A significant 85% of weekly Pinners have made a purchase based on a pin they saw from a brand.

The commercial hook: Pinterest wants Amazon creators, now

Last week Pinterest committed $4 billion to AWS through 2031, stating it would use Amazon's custom silicon semiconductor chips to power its AI roadmap, providing more responsive search and shopping experiences and enhancing the company's visual search discovery platform.

The storefront feature is part of that broader partnership, not separate from it. The deal strengthens the ties between Amazon and Pinterest after the companies first introduced a multi-year advertising partnership in 2023, which made Amazon the first partner for third-party ads on Pinterest.

For creators, the timing is clear. Pinterest creators index heavily toward the home, fashion, food, and beauty verticals where shopping intent is highest, and the platform's affiliate and shopping integrations are now the primary monetization paths for most active creators.

What social media professionals should do next

If you run affiliate content for clients or manage creator partnerships, this is the moment to test Pinterest seriously, not as an afterthought.

Audit which of your creators already hold Amazon Influencer Program accounts. To be eligible for the Amazon Influencer Program, creators should have an active and engaged presence on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Amazon assesses engagement quality, not follower count alone, favouring influencers with authentic community interaction (comments, shares, likes) and content related to product recommendations or shopping.

For brands working with lifestyle, home, or product-focused creators, the automatic tagging and profile surfacing of storefronts reduces the operational friction that previously made Pinterest a weak affiliate channel. You can now brief creators to extend existing Amazon content to Pinterest without requiring new workflows.

Build Pinterest into your 2026 planning now if your category aligns. For agencies designing paid social programs in 2026, the catalog-ads-plus-Pinterest-TV combination is the most consistent performer in home, fashion, beauty, and wedding categories.

And watch for the expansion. Pinterest has explicitly said storefront linking will extend to other partners beyond Amazon. If your brand or clients rely on other affiliate networks, the infrastructure Pinterest is building here is broader than one retail partner.
